iC1s will be celebrating the release of their debut mini album ‘In The Blink Of An Eye’ this week with their first UK tour dates. The Harrow-based quintet’s début record drops on November 3rd 2014 and is being released via Two Sisters Records. The band will be kicking off their 12 date tour with a typically exhilarating live performance at Liverpool’s East Village Arts Club on the 5th of November before hitting the highway up north for dates at a series of notorious venues including Glasgow’s King Tuts (6th Nov), Newcastle’s Think Tank (7th Nov) and Sheffield’s Leadmill (8th Nov) for the first leg of the Autumn tour.
**** It’s not often I go to a gig and on hearing a band play a set feel the need to grab some music! Thankfully Ic1s have physical copies of their Ep on sale which comes with a free digital download included (And a wristband) ‘Wack Jack’ is the only song I have heard from this bunch and I’ve spun it a few times on air and the juxtaposed rhythm of the track doesn’t really work, yet for some unknown reason it does! So when the band take to the stage in Liverpool tonight ‘Jack’ is the last song in their set, which means I’m treated to a whole raft of songs I’ve never heard… Each one of them is fantastic with a couple of them that jump straight of the stage into a box and then outta’ the box straight to air! They have quality around them, they sound like a band with a plan, a band that’s got it right before going out and proving everyone wrong. They are tight, they are melodic, they don’t fuck about with idle chit chat, they just play the songs, and those songs resonate around your head all the way home. This tour will make them a stronger unit, as you could tell they were out of there comfort zone, but it’s somewhere they need to be and it will make them even better. I can imagine them on Later… & that’s where they should be… Jj: Nov 14

Lead single ‘Wack Jack’ released on October 27th is one of six tracks that features on the mini album. The Deluxe edition features a whole 6 other bonus tracks of demos and rarities of fan favourite tracks given the classical treatment with string sections. The song has already become a live favourite and deals with stalking and lost love. “This song is about the fascination after loss and the extremes that can sometimes lead to.” explains iC1s singer Daniel Coburn. “I knew that the moment we wrote the song it would connect with people of all ages as we have all been through something similar to a greater or lesser extent. We tried with the music to reflect the calmness of one side of the equation in the verses and the power and unpredictability of the other person in the chorus and I think we managed it pretty well”
The album ‘In The Blink Of An Eye’ shares its name with a line in second track ‘Levitate’ A song that tackles the issue that runs as a theme throughout the album of escaping and finding pastures new. Written and recorded in London with Grammy winner Ian Dowling on production and mixing duties the album sums up the journey the band have been on in the last year and provides a perfect springboard to move forward with and fulfil the much talked about promise and praise from the likes of Alan McGee and The Libertines. Through its themes ‘In The Blink Of An Eye’ showcases iC1s unshakable ability to conjure immediately satisfying, vibrant music. “We’ve always wanted our songs to appeal to everyone but feel like they are aimed at just you,” explains Coburn. “I write about personal experiences and that makes the songs a real tangible, living thing to me which is important.” ‘In The Blink Of An Eye’ will be available as a Standard Album on CD and digital formats, and an extended 12-track Deluxe Album, available digitally and via download code.
