Straight-in-your-face hard rocking trio Eat The Gun have signed to Steamhammer / Spv to release their melodious, insanely catchy new album, ‘Stripped To The Bone’, on November 25th. Eat The Gun’s fourth studio album, ‘Stripped To The Bone’ is without a doubt the band’s best recording to date; “I always find it difficult to say why some things work really well. But the decision to compose all songs on an acoustic guitar, leaving riffs and other frills aside in the first step, and concentrate on melodies and lyrics instead was obviously the right one,” explains Hendrik Wipperman, the band’s guitarist, vocalist and main songwriter, continuing “I for my part can say that ‘Stripped To The Bone’ has turned into the very album that I’ve always wanted to record.”
‘Stripped To The Bone’ was recorded with Stephen ‘Gudze’ Hinz (H-Blockx) in the band’s own studio in Munster, Germany. “The DIY concept was a priority for us,” says Wippermann, “similar to Foo Fighters, only that we opted for this approach for financial reasons. But as it often goes: less turned out to be more. For example I used only one guitar, one amp and one box at the studio, yet the overall sound is amazingly driving.” ‘Stripped To The Bone’ was then mixed by Hinz and Toni Meloni (Die Toten Hosen) at the renowned Principal Studios south of Munster.
Major highlights include ‘Loner’, the hard driving, hook-ladenfirst single to be taken from the album, (released on November 18th), which tells the tale of a guy who wants to liberate himself from all social pressures and escape the shallowness of our time. ‘Made Of Stone’ focusses on the abundance of cold-hearted greed, egotism and cynicism in society, frequently at the expense of the poor and the weak. The fast-paced ‘Addicted’ takes a dualistic assessment of addiction; on the one hand as a negative and dangerous factor, and on the other as a catalyst for good and positive things, for life itself.
Eat The Gun, who got together in 2002, have graced the stages of over 650 concerts to date, including prestigious performances at festivals such as Wacken Open Air, The Big Day Out and Taubertal, plus support slots with the likes of Backyard Babies, Danko Jones, Die Toten Hosen, Duff McKagan, Hardcore Superstar, HIM and Status Quo. Eat The Gun’s debut album ‘Cross Your Fingers’, was universally praised in the German rock press on release in 2006. The group’s second album, ‘Super Pursuit Mode Aggressive Thrash Distortion’, released in 2009, crashed in to the top ten of the German DJ Metal / Rock charts, and stayed there for 8 weeks. Several tracks from the album were subsequently commissioned as the soundtrack of VW’s Scirocco car racing game app – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-VkPSYSDyI which was downloaded over 3.5 million times from Itunes’ app store worldwide. Eat The Gun’s third album, ‘Runner’, made the top 20 of the American College Radio charts on release in 2011. Now ‘Stripped To The Bone’, packed with ten prime cuts of irresistibly catchy hard rocking compositions, can only win over a whole host of new fans of this hugely talented trio
