Having taken part in one of North America’s biggest music industry events last summer – the NXNE 2012 festival in Toronto – Wrexham group The Roseville Band are now living the American Dream; the band have just signed to Pipe & Hat Records / Fontana North in Canada, and now plan to tour North America this June to promote the release of their forthcoming LP ‘Temper’, which will be released worldwide on 25th June. The initial interest in America came as somewhat of a surprise to the band, who discovered late in 2011 that songs from their second LP ‘Shake The Walls’ (Tri-Tone/PIAS) had been picked up by radio in the US and Canada. It followed on from an industrious twelve months for the band, which had seen them tour the UK & Europe, and release a second album in successive years; resulting in invites to perform at major North American music industry events in 2012.
The first of these saw the band tour in Canada as part of Canadian Music Week, where they showcased alongside hundreds of acts from across the globe. The experience brought the band to the attention of a number of senior figures within the industry, culminating in a further invitation to showcase at the NXNE 2012 festival. Headlined by The Flaming Lips and with 2,000 industry delegates in attendance, the event provided the band with a fantastic opportunity to play their music direct to industry. The band played 6 shows in Toronto as part of the festival; whipping up a buzz amongst delegates & journalists alike, and were awarded ‘Standout International Act of NXNE!’ for their efforts.
It was following these exploits that the band were courted by a number of senior figures within the industry, and resulted in the band signing with Pipe & Hat Records / Fontana North in Canada. The deal will see the band tour North America this summer where they will launch the release of their new album, with initial shows planned for Toronto at NXNE 2013 alongside The National, as well as further shows planned throughout June. The tour is being supported by the Arts Council of Wales, as part of the new Music Industry Development Funding Scheme, which aims to strengthen the Welsh music industry through offering support for Welsh musicians to become a part of a sustainable music industry in Wales.
Exciting Welsh music makers The Roseville Band return with their eagerly anticipated third album Temper. The band, who hail from the green country of North Wales, deliver explosive driven rock ‘n’ roll, and have been patiently building a reputation for their high energy live shows and stadium filling potential, which threatens to be fulfilled with this new offering. Forming the creative nucleus of the band are the guitarist brothers Andy and Steve Jones, who grew up in the North Wales countryside, in a house – Roseville – which over time drew in a community of friends and musicians from the surrounding area, giving rise to The Roseville Band in late 2006.
Having developed a cult following in their native Wales with the releases of their first two albums, Little Eyes In The Universe (PIAS 2010) and Shake The Walls (PIAS 2011), the band have earned support and mentions from the likes of NME, The Guardian and a host of online bloggers. Debuting with sessions and airplay on XFM, BBC Wales and Balcony TV, they’ve since progressed to reach new audiences around the world with press and airplays across Europe, the USA and Canada. Live, The Roseville Band have a commendably intense work ethic – 500+ shows to date.
2013 finds the band as a leaner four-piece, and now, bringing a more aggressive and alternative slant to their music, which has them primed for new frontiers upon the imminent release of Temper. The new album is sure to catch many by surprise, and particularly those familiar with the band’s first two LPs, which largely reflected the band’s earlier influences, where echoes of Dylan and The Band featured heavily. By contrast Temper is a completely different beast, seeing the band finally coming into their own and posing a far more intriguing and ambitious proposition to that of their previous offerings. “Take It” and title track “Temper” highlight this exciting new chapter as well as any, presenting a band loaded with ideas and a new approach that sets them apart from their contemporaries. This is the music of a band that has experienced life and the world on the road, providing them with new territories into which they willingly delve, culminating in a new record full of melodrama, verve, and a gut punching force that draws on everything from The Clash and Echo & The Bunnymen to fresher influences such as Arcade Fire and Modest Mouse. Brought to life by a freshly charged rhythm section, dark brooding guitars, and vocal melodies you could hang your coat
