After achieving huge success – four consecutive Billboard #1 albums, 12 million album sales and a further 6 million digital – with Disturbed who are now on hiatus, David Draiman returns with Device who will issue their self-titled debut album on April 8th on Warner Bros. Records. Device were formed in May 2012 and Draiman subsequently co-wrote and co-produced the album with Geno Lenardo, best known for his work with Filter on the million-selling album ‘Title of Record’ (1999) and the follow-up ‘The Amalgamut’ (2002).
“It’s not metal”, says Draiman. “It’s influenced by early industrial rock (Nine Inch Nails, Ministry) and has a dark electronic vibe. At the same time, these are big, anthemic, and intensely melodic songs. It’s futuristic rock.” After completing the album, Draiman recruited Dope guitarist Virus and drummer Will Hunt (Evanescence, Black Label Society) to make the band’s touring line-up a three-piece.
Previewed by the single ‘Vilify’ which was released on February 18th, the album will include performances from an enviable list of collaborators including Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Black Country Communion), M. Shadows (Avenged Sevenfold) and Lizzy Hale (Halestorm).
